KAOLIN

Kaolin is marketed around the world for various uses, the main two being pottery and health and beauty. This clay is most commonly known as white clay and creates a white piece of pottery, or is used mainly in face masks and scrubs.
Kaolin clay is made up of the mineral Kaolinite. Kaolinite is the most common clay mineral, which is named after the Kao-ling mountain in China where the mineral was well known from in early times.

BALL CLAY

Ball clay is a really uncommon clay in today's time, the name derives from the early method of mining with hand tools that were used to extract the clay, and  it is also commonly referred to as plastic clay. This clay is mainly composed of the minerals kaolinite, mica, and quartz, this results in the  identifier of individual clay seams within each deposit.
Ball clay, or blended clay, is processed to shred the larger clumps of clay into smaller, golf ball size lumps of clay. The clay is further processed through drying and grinding to produce the powdered clay, which is used to create plastic clay and ceramics. Ball clay can also be sold in the golf ball size form.

FIRE CLAY

Fire clay, as its name suggests is commonly used for  areas with extreme heat such as heat resistant mortar, pottery, and ceramics. or in areas with extreme heat, as well as ovens. It is mainly composed of the minerals silica and  high contents of alumina, which cause it to become fire-proof. Fire clay is very common and can be found and can be mistaken as mud, the only difference is the high alumina content in such soil. It is normally a lighter- white color or light brown color. Fire clay is known to be water proof once dried because of its excellent bonding properties.

BENTONITE

Bentonite clay is known as a soft clay which can make a fine paste when mixed with water. It is composed of montmorillonite and aluminum, and it is known to absorb water in large amounts. Bentonite clay is commonly used to improve soil quality due to its ability to absorb water, and is also known to be used in cat litter and pond seals and liners. Other uses include ceramic glazes, sand casts, and removing toxins from humans and animals.

FULLERS HOME

Fuller's home clay soil is more commonly known as fuller's earth or multani mitti. This clay is mainly composed of aluminum magnesium silicate, the main use being to decontaminate and clean toxins in fabrics  and equipment, clean oil and gas, as well as decontaminate skin and often used in wrinkle and acne cosmetics. This clay is used more commonly in health and beauty products than bentonite clay.

COMMON CLAY

Commons clays are what the name suggests common, they are the shales, glacial clays, and soil clays that are used mainly for structural clay products. This clay is known to be fine grained and have a plastic behavior when wet. When this clay is wet, due to its plasticity, it can be shaped, dried and fired to produce structural and face bricks, as well as drain tiles, pottery, roofing tiles and stoneware. Common clay is the  largest ceramic material in the world due to the products it can make do not require elaborate processing.
